One Room Challenge - Week 6: Lily's Room Reveal!
/I'm probably the last one to post on reveal day but it's fitting because I was also likely the last one to join the One Room Challenge - two weeks late. I am so grateful to have had this opportunity to join the One Room Challenge as a guest participant. Thank you so much to Linda from Calling It Home and House Beautiful for hosting such an amazing event. Week after week I was welcomed, encouraged and inspired by so many creatives sharing their transformations and cheering each other on.
Lily's room has been my favourite project to date, mostly because she was the driving force behind it, but also because this design was bold, bright and perfectly her. We worked together every step of the way from design concept to painting walls and furniture, sewing and hanging art.
Redesign
This room is a great example of redesign starting with Lily's vintage headboards turned daybed, a painted dresser and hall console table (both Kijiji finds), a newly reupholstered stool and bench, and a super fun Kate Spade shower curtain sewed into euro shams.
Details
Similar to the furniture for the room, nearly all of the accessories are vintage and thrift store finds including 2 lamps, art glass and brass alarm clock.
Art
There were so many DIYs in Lily's room and we did most of the work ourselves so we had lots of money in the budget for art. We started with Lily's art first by framing a picture she painted of her and I for her "Wall of Girls" as well as a rainbow drawing for her desk. We purchased an original Warrior Girl painting as well as 2 Warrior Girl and Frida prints from Marin Devine Art which really elevated the whole room. I also picked up a "Wild Thing" abstract print from Britt Bass and a butterfly print from Jenny's Print Shop. And last but certainly not least, an original Ranunculus painting by Lynn Millar sits at front and centre above Lily's desk on the window ledge.
It has been a long couple of days but Lily is thrilled with her new room which is exactly what I was hoping for. Now to get some sleep so I can start planning for the Fall One Room Challenge!
